Inspection of offshore jackets - Taiwan

Summary:

  • Inspection of coating system of offshore jackets
  • Use of Rope Access according to the IRATA principles
  • Tailor-made reporting of severity and magnitude of damages per location

Our client contracted Future Services to identify the damages to the coating system on the jackets of its offshore wind farm. These damages needed to be classified according to severity, size and location and were situated on the topside and in the splash zone of the jacket. The goal of this identification was to provide clarity with regards to the planning of a future repair campaign.

To this end a tailor-made report was constructed based on the client’s needs. NACE certified inspectors were used to fulfill quality requirements and provide the best possible advice to our client. Therefore, also pull-off tests were done to make the advice package as complete as possible.

Due to the hard to reach nature of the damages on these offshore structuresRope Access techniques were used. To ensure the safe execution of the works, Future Services always works according to the IRATA principles and with experienced personnel.

This campaign was made extra challenging, because of requirements with regards to Covid-19. A strong management effort from Future Services, combined with a good cooperation with our client, allowed us to tackle the extra logistical issues.

By preparing an elaborate risk analysis and flexible project planning, mitigating actions were implemented to ensure a successful project.
