Coating repairs during O&M campaign (Belgium)

Summary:

  • Repair campaign on foundations during Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phase
  • Use of Rope Access according to the IRATA principles

For a long term partner, Future Services takes care of the yearly maintenance on the coating system of the monopile foundations (MP) and Transition Pieces (TP) of their Belgian offshore wind farms.

To ensure corrosion protection, both Chemco and International (AkzoNobel) coatings are used in combination with Seal for Life products. Future Services personnel has experience with a wide variety of painting systems and anti-corrosion products. Both internal and external trainings are done when working with new products to ensure a high quality result. Depending on the magnitude and severity of coating damages, either mechanical surface preparation or abrasive blasting is done to meet quality requirements.

To gain accessibility to the hard to reach locations, Rope Access techniques according to the IRATA principles are used. To guarantee safe working an elaborate risk assessment is made along with a rescue plan.

Careful planning, extensive preparation and clear communication resulted in a safe, efficient and qualitative maintenance campaign for our client, that was delivered on time and within budget.
